With the exponential advancement of digital imaging and ranging technologies, the fields of image-based 3D reconstruction have shown a pronounced presence in geospatial applications such as infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, and law enforcement. Photogrammetric computer vision techniques of 3D reconstruction aim at the development of (semi-)automatic methods for engineering tasks such as fine-scale mapping, high-precision surveying and optical metrology, with certain requirements regarding accuracy and completeness of the derived models.

Photogrammetry is strongly connected to various fields such as mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, robotics, remote sensing, and electrical engineering; where it shares methodological aspects of computational geometry, image processing, and computer graphics. The strong interdisciplinary nature of photogrammetry engineering has necessitated and initiated a wide range of scientific communications between researchers, developers, and engineers from computer science and geomatics communities.

The workshop PhotoGA 2019 aims to co-locate an event related to the areas of photogrammetric 3D reconstructions and their geospatial applications with the AI.GI.CRV 2019 Conference in order to bring researchers of both fields together and allow them to enjoy a multidisciplinary platform to share their ideas and developments.

The PhotoGA19 workshop will have one day of technical programs including a plenary session with keynote talks as well as oral and poster presentations. The workshop is organized by ISPRS WG II/1 and WG II/2 in conjunction with the Computer and Robot Vision 2019 and is hosted by Queen’s University. In addition, a special invited symposium session on Photogrammetric Computer Vision will be co-hosted with CRV. 

Professionals from related disciplines like photogrammetry, remote sensing, computer vision, geo-data processing and applications are welcome to join the PhotoGA19 workshop to pose their research questions and search solutions.


Workshop topics:

High-quality contributions to PhotoGA 2019 are invited from all researchers in the fields of image-based 3D reconstruction in the context of geo-applications to cover a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

Integrated sensor calibration and orientation

Multi-source data fusion

Feature extraction, stereo/multi-view sparse matching, dense image matching

3D data acquisition and surface reconstruction

Structure from motion and SLAM

Small unmanned aerial systems for 3D mapping

Evaluation of performance, reliability, robustness, and generality of methods


Submission of papers:

High-quality papers covering one or more of the above topics should be submitted electronically through our submission system. Authors can only submit full papers for a double-blind peer review process. The papers should be prepared according to the ISPRS guidelines for preparing manuscripts and should not exceed 8 pages. Accepted papers will be published in Annals of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and the Spatial Information Science.
