Gather in Nanning and Connect with ASEAN to Jointly Talk about Chinese Remote Sensing Satellites Contributing to ASEAN Development(May 2021)

Taking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relationship as an opportunity, on the occasion of the 11th China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum, the Seminar on China-ASEAN Satellite Remote Sensing, as part of the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum for the first time, was successfully held on May 20th, 2021 in Nanning, Guangxi. The seminar was attended by 26 representatives joining online from the departments of surveying and mapping, geographic information, mineral resources, natural resources and environmental protection, and aerospace in the ASEAN countries including Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia, as well as over 70 Chinese on-site representatives from the industry.

With the theme of "Chinese Remote Sensing Satellites contribute to ASEAN Development", 8 presentations were made in the seminar. The representatives also exchanged and discussed the plan of building China-ASEAN satellite remote sensing service center, and explored the establishment of a stable and long-term multilateral cooperation mechanism, to comprehensively promote the sharing and in-depth application of China's natural resource satellite image data in ASEAN region.

Online Training Workshop on Domestic High-Resolution Satellite Image Application (African Region) Successfully Held(October 2020)

On October 26th, 2020, based on the arrangements of the international cooperation program under “Belt and Road” on natural resource satellite image products and technologies, the Online Training Workshop on Domestic High-Resolution Satellite Image Applications (African Region) was successfully held. Affected by the global COVID-19 epidemic, this training was conducted online. 37 representatives from the three African countries of Uganda, Zambia and Ghana participated in the training, including the responsible personnel of remote sensing departments and technical backbones in remote sensing.

This training course is oriented to African countries that have deployed natural resource satellite remote sensing cloud service platform nodes. With the theme of "promoting domestic data sharing and deepening cooperation in remote sensing applications", the typical application cases of cloud service platform usage methods, satellite image processing technology, geological disasters and thermal infrared remote sensing monitoring were studied and exchanged in the training, enabling participants to gain a deep understanding of China's natural resources land remote sensing satellite system, data processing and application methods.

The China High-Resolution Satellite Imagery Application Workshop was successfully held for ASEAN region(November 2019)

The “China High-Resolution Satellite Imagery Application Workshop for ASEAN Region" was successfully held in Vientiane, Laos on 20-21 November, 2019. The theme of the workshop is “Innovation on China-ASEAN Satellite Data Sharing and Geo-spatial Information Technology Application”. The Workshop focused on enhancing international cooperation among participants, exploring the innovation on data sharing and application, and sharing the related technologies through the trainings, to ensure widest and fullest utility of Chinese Satellite in service of social, economic and environmental development. Around 65 representatives from natural resources and geographic information institutions of 7 countries including China, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Nepal and the Philippines participated in the training course.

Southeast Asian Satellite Application Workshop held in Xi'an China(September 2019)

September 4 to 6, 2019, the Southeast Asian Satellite Application Workshop was held in Xi'an. Tang Xinming, the chair of ISPRS WG I/4, presided over the opening ceremony of the workshop. The workshop was also attended by the chiefs of relevant entities and experts from 10 countries in Southeast Asia, other regions of Asia and Africa.

The theme of this workshop is "Satellite Data Sharing and Geospatial Information Technology Application Innovation". It aims to further strengthen the international cooperation of satellite remote sensing application technologies among participating countries, exchange and explore innovations in data sharing and application, and ensure ZY satellites, GF satellites and  Thaichote satellites to have the broadest and most comprehensive benefits in serving social, economic and environmental development. The workshop lasted for three days, applying such forms as organized lectures, demonstrations and technical visit to enable domestic experts to introduce the data processing, accuracy verification, cloud service platform, and real cases of China’s natural resources satellites, as well as remote sensing research progress and application services. Ten participants from Thailand, Laos, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar shared the user experience after using China’s domestic satellite image data in their countries.
