Planned benchmark datasets and competitions

• Setup of a repository with datasets already collected by WG Officers, Support Personnel and volunteers, on inland (river), coastal and open seas, comprising: Airborne Laser Bathymetry (ALB, including UAV), aerial and underwater images, reference data. The purpose of the datasets will be to investigate needs and open challenges in the topics of interest for the WG. For example, but not restricted to test and evaluate new geometric and radiometric calibration approaches, colour correction/restoration models or image enhancement, multi-epoch co-registration
• Collection of new benchmark dataset on pre-alpine lake and river for mapping of shallow water bathymetry, underwater objects, and submersed macrophytes. The dataset shall comprise ALB and aerial photo data acquisition (manned aircraft and/or UAV), ROV survey (SONAR, LiDAR, photos), divers-captured photos, ground truth data (total station and MBES surveys for shallow and >1.5m depth respectively)
• Call for competitions using the provided datasets within the planned workshop and scientific events
